YORGOS KOUTSOYANNOPOULOS

PRESIDENT AND CEO, VICE-CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD

Yorgos co-founded and infused Helic with the vision to create a cutting-edge technology company with a global reach. Under his leadership, Helic raised multiple rounds of financing from institutional investors and venture capital firms and grew its clientele by winning the biggest semiconductor accounts. Yorgos is an active member of international technical committees and associations. He plays an instrumental role in promoting innovative Greek firms in Silicon Valley and beyond through initiatives he co-founded including the Hellenic Semiconductor Industry Association. He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and has attended executive courses in Harvard and London Business Schools in leadership and marketing.

NIKOLAS PROVATAS

VICE PRESIDENT, SALES AND BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Nikolas joined Helic at its inception and is currently managing sales and customer support operations. Under his guidance, Helic established sales offices and a network of representatives in major semiconductor markets in North America, Europe and Asia. As a result, Helic now serves 15 of the world’s Top 20 semiconductor manufacturers, most of the fabless companies, and the company’s products are used by more than 1,500 design engineers. Nikolas holds a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of the Aegean and a Masters in Business Administration from Athens University of Economics and Business.

MAGDY ABADIR

VP of Marketing

Magdy is an internationally recognized EDA and design technology expert. Elected an IEEE fellow for contributions to the test and verification of microprocessors, Magdy has 10 patents issued with several more filed. He founded and chaired a series of workshops on microprocessor test and verification and on the economics of design, test, and manufacturing. Magdy published over 300 technical papers, with four receiving best paper awards. Previously, Magdy was group manager for EDA tools and methodology at Motorola’s high-performance design group. At Freescale, he managed EDA and IP relationships and helped shape strategic goals. An adjunct faculty at the University of Texas at Austin, Magdy holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California.

EVANGELOS RAPTIS

CHIEF FINANCIAL OFFICER

Evangelos has over 17 years of experience as a banker and a corporate executive in large organizations such as Chase Investment Bank, Alpha Bank, Printec, Forthnet, and Intralot. Evangelos has led company groups in Europe with hundreds of employees and turnovers in the hundreds of millions, re-structuring for efficiency in the wake of the financial crisis, while leading growth and diversification strategy. Evangelos has also served on the boards of a number of listed and private companies. He holds a B.A. from Swarthmore College and an M.A. in International Economics and Finance from Brandeis University.

BABIS BAKOLIAS

COO & MANAGING DIRECTOR, HELIC S.A.

Babis has over 15 years of experience in management and new product development in diverse industries such as telecommunications, digital television, machine vision, and robotics. He has worked as project officer at the General Secretariat for Research and Technology in Greece. At a Cambridge-based start-up, Babis participated in the invention of 4 patents in machine vision. He holds a B.S. in Physics from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece, an M.S. in Optoelectronics and Optical Information Processing from Queen’s University of Belfast, UK, an Executive M.B.A. from the Athens University of Economics and Business and a Ph.D. in Computer-Aided Systems Engineering from Imperial College of London.

ANAND RAMAN

DIRECTOR, TECHNICAL MARKETING

Anand has over 19 years of experience in developing and leading global teams in the semiconductor and EDA industry, in the areas of high speed chip, package and board design. He helped win new accounts each year, including key accounts from competition, and achieved a retention rate of over 90% with excellent support and great technology as the key reasons for renewal. Prior to joining Helic, Anand worked at Cadence, defined technology roadmaps, led globally dispersed cross functional teams and turned around troubled initiatives. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay and an M.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Massachusetts.

CHRISTOS MAKIYAMA

DIRECTOR OF SALES, JAPAN

Christos leads the sales and business development activities for Helic in Japan since 2004. He has over 20 years of experience guiding international innovative technology organizations. Christos is also founder and president of Silicon Planet, a technology-consulting firm, since January 2001. Previously, he was general manager of the network products and business development group at Paltek Corporation, a publicly traded company on JASDAQ, active in semiconductor distribution. Christos studied Physics at the National and Kapodestrian University of Athens, Greece and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from Osaka Institute of Technology in Japan. He is fluent in Japanese, Greek and English.

APOSTOLOS LIAPIS

DIRECTOR, PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT

Apostolos, a Helic co-founder, is the main driving force behind Helic’s software engineering and EDA tool flow design for the past 15 years. Under his guidance, Helic’s products have evolved to satisfy changing market needs and maximize value to customers. An inventor of several patents in the approval process, prior to founding Helic, Apostolos worked as an IT technical consultant in EDA applications for private organizations and the Institute of Computer and Communication Systems of the National Technical University of Athens in Greece. He holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

PADELIS PAPADOPOULOS

DIRECTOR OF ENGINEERING

Padelis leads the development and evolution of the core products of the company. His wealth of experience of over ten years in IC design and field applications engineering provides important insights into the work at hand, from both the product development and customer side. Padelis previously led Helic’s global pre-sales, field applications, and customer support team as it doubled in size while the company expanded its revenue and the number of customers supported. He has supervised two tape-outs and has been invited to be a reviewer for IEEE. Padelis holds a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.

YORGOS KATSOULIS

FIELD APPLICATIONS ENGINEERING MANAGER

Yorgos leads Helic’s customer field support team, providing best-in-class support to customers globally. He has more than a decade of industrial experience in the design and manufacturing of microelectronic systems and managing multiple technical support issues for multiple ongoing projects, from specification to tape-out. Yorgos’ role coupled with his experience and background enable him to play an active part in the development of Helic’s products. An avid cyclist at a competitive level, he holds a B.S. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece.
