VeloceRF bridges the gap between rapid modeling, synthesis of integrated inductors and transformers/baluns and signoff accuracy for electromagnetic effects such as spiral-to-spiral mutual inductance, skin effect and substrate losses. The only tool of its kind with out-of-the-box support for DRC- and DFM-clean spiral inductors in a variety of nanoscale CMOS (90/65/45 nm) PDKs.
The latest VeloceRF release (v1.6.3) enables optimized synthesis of planar transformers and baluns (XFW – Transformer Wizard v1.0) with complex primary-secondary impedance levels in all known configurations (single-ended-to-single-ended, differential-to-single-ended, a.o.). The solution consists of the VeloceRF balun PCell –ready to use: DRC/DFM clean – and the necessary matching capacitors satisfying a wide set of user imposed constraints. Also released in version 1.6.3 the Adaptive Compaction Modeling (ACM v1.0) enables adaptable netlist compaction for all spirals, baluns and interconnects reducing the netlist size over 90% and increasing the simulation speed drastically.
